About Our Center and Expertise

The Eye and Cosmetic Surgery Center at Mercy provides the most advanced care for eye and vision problems as well as an array of cosmetic treatments for the facial area. Under the direction of ophthalmologic surgeon Sheri L. Rowen, M.D. and her associate Wendy Hecht Bohner, M.D., The Eye and Cosmetic Surgery Center offers state-of-the-art technologies combined with clinical and surgical expertise. In addition to the office on the Mercy campus, Dr. Rowen and Dr. Bohner also have an office located at 1407 York Road in Lutherville.

The Center offers expert treatment for a number of vision problems and eye diseases including:

  • "Instant Vision" cataract surgery
  • Premiere Lenses including Crystalens, ReZoom, ReStor, Toric for astigmatism correction and the newly FDA approved Visian Implantable Contact Lens for moderate to severe myopia
  • Early stage glaucoma evaluation using the OCT, GDx Nerve Fiber Analyzer
  • Diabetic Screening
  • Plaquinal TherapyScreening
  • Routine Eye Exams
  • LASIK eye surgery using Allegretto’s WaveLight Custom Wavescan technology to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism

The Eye and Cosmetic Surgery Center also offers a variety of cosmetic procedures performed in the office or operating room. In office procedures at the Lutherville location include Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Fraxel II, IPL, spider vein treatment, Laser Hair Removal, microdermabrassion, Obagi skin care treatment, and Obagi blue peel. Out-patient surgical procedures include upper and lower lid blepharoplasty (for "bags around the eyes"), lower eye lid or full face resurfacing using the CO2 or Erbium laser, Ptosis upper lid repair (relaxed eye muscles causing partial lid closure), and Xanthelasma (plaque that forms around the eye) removal.
